Remission 2013

Once one completes the medical treatment process for cancer, then starts the “remission” period. My partner Oran and I were overjoyed when we heard the word at the end of his exhausting cancer treatments.  As we deconstruct the term and recast it into the content of our renewed life, I’ve found that I turned it and looked at it with different eyes, my own healthy eyes and those of my sick beloved. I realize that my remission had already occurred during the course of his sickness – a remission from life. During that year we were both on the Island of the sick and their Observers. On our Island of the Sick I created a parallel world in which I could deal with this detached and complex reality. I look at this experience as if through a lens, like at a movie that is not really mine and I create a world where anything is possible.
